Pins a to h of the 7 segment are linked to the microcontroller’s PORT 2 and the com pin is connected to ground through the 330 ohm resistor in this configuration. The digits are displayed using a common cathode seven segment. The internal connections of a seven-segment display are shown in the diagram below. In a seven-segment common anode display, all of the anodes are connected together and the cathodes are free to move about. In a common cathode, all of the LEDs’ cathodes are connected and identified as com, while the anode is left alone. In general, there are two sorts of seven segments: common cathode and common anode. Seven LEDs are used to signify the digits 0 to 9 and a single LED is used to indicate the decimal point in these LEDs. Internally, seven segment screens have eight LEDs.
